Must be able to design by using a computer graphics systems as the design tool. Must be able to model parts and/or assemblies as required, both simple and complex. Understand and apply GD&T for both assemblies and dependent components. Understanding of application on all dimensions, for both assemblies and dependent components. Work with verbal instructions, sketches, and customer prints/models to come up with new designs. Make complex layouts based on the above. Must possess strong interpersonal skills. Must have project planning abilities, relative to planning of overall project and individual components. Must be able to preliminarily check drawings and models for completeness and accuracy. Must have strong knowledge of Customer Standards, and apply them to all of the above.
2-year College degree or equivalent training in design work. Five plus years of Mechanical Design work, in Axles, Transmissions, or other related fields. Must satisfactorily answer the CAD-Pre Interview screening questions. Must have good to excellent oral and written communication skills. Some analytical ability where problems are of medium complexity. Solid knowledge of algebra, geometry and trigonometry. Familiar with general materials, manufacturing processes, and related tolerances. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others. Training in computer applications such as Lotus, Excel and Microsoft Word. Must be outgoing and agressive toward completion dates. Must be familiar with prodcuts, in both assemblies and components. Must be proficient in a major CAD software such as UG, CATIA or SDRC. Good organizational skills relative to project planning and timing.
